At top left, a judge receives a well-aimed kick on the backside from a disgruntled horse. To the right a lady judge disqualifies a young troublemaker on a painted pony, who is wreaking havoc in the ring. The two other judges simply ignore the fracas as they are more interested in becoming better acquainted. Another pony tries its best to interrupt their extracurricular activity. To the right, a pony has an inquisitive head over the rail, and beside him is the supportive family of the troublemaker. Their thrift-store garb is completely at odds with the snobbish appearance of the other competitors - the fact that their daughter is pulling a cheeky face doesn’t help either. Behind them a large black horse is sipping beer from an unattended pint glass at the beer tent. In the ring itself, two young members of the Pony Club are discovering to their horror that the tearaway son of the yokels is loose on his feisty pony. Worse yet, his pet dog is running ahead, between the legs of their skittish horses. A mole ducks for cover as a horseshoe flies. Another dog and a mouse watch the scene from the relative safety of the hedge. |
